Along with Brave, Walt Disney Home Entertainment is also releasing Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 2 on Blu-ray & DVD today.  The set features most of the shorts that the studio produced between 2007 and 2012, including Your Friend the Rat, Presto, BURN•E, Partly Cloudy, Dug’s Special Mission, George & A.J., Day & Night, Hawaiian Vacation, Air Mater, Small Fry, Time Travel Mater and La Luna.

It’s a lot of fun to watch these twelve short films in a row and there are so many small gems that it’s hard to pick a favourite.  Although all but three have previously been released, it’s invaluable to have them all together on one disc.  Following the equally strong first set that came out in 2007, Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 2 is highly recommended for fans of the studio.

The Blu-ray also includes commentary on all of the shorts and the rarely seen student films of John Lasseter (Nitemare, Lady and the Lamp), Andrew Stanton (Somewhere in the Arctic, A Story) and Pete Doctor (Winter, Palm Springs, Next Door).  This whole set runs for just under forty minutes with the introductions and is very much worth seeing for animation fans.
