Along with Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 2, today Walt Disney Home Entertainment is also releasing this summer’s excellent animated film Brave on Blu-ray & DVD.  With beautiful animation, a heartfelt story and appealing characters, this thirteenth feature film from the geniuses at Pixar is another strong entry into their library of classics.  We reviewed Brave when it opened in theatres back on June 22nd and our overall consensus was:

“Good for kids and adults, Pixar’s Brave is a beautifully animated film that arguably doesn’t reach the complexity of their previous movies, but is filled with strong characters and a heartfelt story that comes highly recommended.  ***1/2 (Out of 4)”

The Blu-ray comes packed with audio commentary, an alternate opening, extended scenes and numerous featurettes.  Also included is the charming little film La Luna and the excellent new short The Legend of Mor’du, which provides a good backstory to Brave.  The 5-disc Ultimate Collector’s Edition has an awesome lenticular cover and includes a copy of the film in spectacular 3D.

Brave is 93 minutes and rated PG.
