This movie wasn’t even really on my radar until this morning, but Prime Video has just dropped the first teaser trailer (and poster) for their upcoming Christmas movie The Man with the Bag. The main selling point here is that it stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as Santa Claus. Alan Ritchson (Reacher) co-stars in the film as a thief trying to help Santa get back his missing bag.

It’s directed by Adam Shankman (The Wedding Planner, Hairspray), who also had Stop! That! Train! earlier this year. But this is being sold as Schwarzenegger returning to both action comedies and Christmas movies, arriving thirty years after his 1996 film Jingle All the Way, which has been steadily reevaluated over the past three decades as a holiday classic.

Will Schwarzenegger as Santa (he even says “I’m back!” at the end of the trailer, a spin on his iconic catchphrase) be enough to turn this into a holiday hit on streaming? I actually think it might be. The teaser trailer makes this look fun (and cheesy) enough to hopefully be entertaining. The film streams exclusively on Prime Video on December 2nd.
