Fresh off of winning the People’s Choice Award at TIFF, Netflix has released a new trailer for Spanish historical drama La Bola Negra. The trailer is largely built around Glenn Close’s appearance in the film, and reveals the epic scope of the triptych storytelling, which won co-directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi the Best Director prize at Cannes.

I reviewed this one during TIFF (you can read my full thoughts right here), and the buzz is warranted. It’s a sweeping, moving drama and the scope of it is pretty staggering. The film opens in theatres on October 23rd, including a 35mm run at TIFF Lightbox in Toronto, and Netflix is counting on this being a box office success to increase its Oscar chances. It will be streaming on Netflix on December 2nd.
