Blu-ray Release: Peter Pan
Today, Disney Home Entertainment is continuing their ongoing Diamond Edition collection, with the release of their animated classic Peter Pan for the first time on Blu-ray. Released exactly sixty years ago on this day, the film follows the Darling children who are taken to the magical world of Never Land by their hero Peter Pan (Bobby Driscoll) and his pixie Tinker Bell, where they battle the vengeful Captain Hook (Hans Conried).
I recently saw Peter Pan on the big screen at a special event and really enjoyed the experience. From the hilarious opening sequence that plays as a perfectly timed comic set piece, to the memorably drawn characters and wonderful final scene, the film has always been one of my childhood favourites. Every scene of the 1953 classic looks great in high definition and this beautifully restored Blu-ray is highly recommended.
The Blu-ray includes an introduction with Diane Disney Miller, deleted songs as well as a never before seen deleted scene and alternate ending. Also included is an old commentary track with Roy Disney, the lengthy featurette Growing Up With Nine Old Men, and the classic DVD special features.
Peter Pan is 77 minutes and rated G.
