Today, Paramount Home Entertainment released Pain & Gain on Blu-ray & DVD.  The film is based on the unfortunate true story of a fitness instructor (Mark Wahlberg) who teamed up with his client (Anthony Mackie) and a born again ex-convict (Dwayne Johnson) to kidnap a sleazy millionaire (Tony Shalhoub), successfully torturing him for all his assets.

Directed with exaggerated style by Michael Bay, Pain & Gain has some well done moments, but too often plays as a bizarre mix of dark comedy and disturbing brutality.  When we find out more about this twisted true story, the often comedic tone of the film feels unsettling.  But Pain & Gain more than made back its budget at the box office after opening back on April 26th, and fans of the film will be satisfied by the clear image quality of the Blu-ray, which curious viewers should feel free to check out.

The Blu-ray surprisingly includes no bonus features.

Pain & Gain is 130 minutes and rated 18A.
