DVD/Blu-ray Release: Star Trek Into Darkness
Today, Paramount is releasing this summer’s smash hit Star Trek Into Darkness on Blu-ray & DVD. An effortlessly cool sequel from director J.J. Abrams, fans are encouraged to add this one to their collections. We reviewed Star Trek Into Darkness back on May 17th, and our overall consensus was:
“Expertly directed by J.J. Abrams, Star Trek Into Darkness is an incredibly entertaining summer blockbuster that serves as a worthy follow up to the 2009 film, delivering excellent performances and exciting action sequences. ***3/4 (Out of 4)”
The Blu-ray includes multiple featurettes, and the film is also available to buy in nicely rendered 3D.
Star Trek Into Darkness is 132 minutes and rated PG.
Also being released on Blu-ray today from Paramount is Star Trek: The Original Series – Origins, a collection of five episodes from the classic TV show that introduce us to some of the famous characters who are present throughout Star Trek Into Darkness.
The episodes are introduced by Rod Roddenberry, including original 1966 pilot The Cage, Where No Man Has Gone Before, Space Seed, Errand of Mercy and The Trouble with Tribbles.
The Blu-ray includes no bonus features, but serves as a nice introduction to this classic series.
Star Trek: The Original Series – Origins is about 265 minutes and rated G.
