Today, Disney is releasing the Of Pirates and Pigs Collection on Blu-ray, including two classics with Jim Henson’s beloved gang.  First up is the 1996 musical Muppet Treasure Island, an entertaining take on the Robert Louis Stevenson story, starring Tim Curry alongside the felt characters.  Next is the hilarious 1981 film The Great Muppet Caper, which was the second big screen adventure for Kermit the Frog, and is a cleverly scripted comedy that has become a genuine cult classic over the years.

Both Muppet Treasure Island and The Great Muppet Caper are a pair of classics that hold up nicely and still provide plenty of goodnatured entertainment, and this two movie collection would make a great gift for any Muppet fans on your list.

The Blu-ray includes commentary with director Brian Henson and stars Gonzo and Rizzo, a featurette and music video for Muppet Treasure Island, as well as a “Frog-E-Oke” sing along.

Muppet Treasure Island is 99 minutes and rated G.  The Great Muppet Caper is 98 minutes and PG.
