The Winners of the 71st Golden Globes
By John Corrado
The winners of the 71st Golden Globes were announced this evening, at a ceremony hosted by the very funny duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. The big winner of the night was David O. Russell’s incredibly entertaining American Hustle, which picked up three awards including Best Picture – Comedy or Musical. The award for Best Picture – Drama went to Steve McQueen’s powerful 12 Years a Slave, and Alfonso Caurón took home Best Director for the masterful Gravity.
Cate Blanchett took Best Actress – Drama for her sublime work in Blue Jasmine, and Matthew McConaughey picked up Best Actor for his mesmerizing turn in Dallas Buyers Club. The winners in the Comedy or Musical categories were Amy Adams for her great performance in American Hustle and Leonardo DiCaprio for his electric work in The Wolf of Wall Street. The deserving winners in the supporting categories were the awesome Jennifer Lawrence for American Hustle and Jared Leto for his unforgettable transformation in Dallas Buyers Club.
There were many deserving winners throughout the night, and I’m happy with the ways that things played out this evening.
