Disney has just released the first teaser trailer (and a new poster) for Pixar’s Toy Story 5, the fifth film in the series that is set to arrive next summer. I’m guessing this teaser will play before Disney’s Zootopia 2 in a few weeks.

Set to INXS’s “Never Tear Us Apart,” this teaser gives us our first look at new character Lilypad, a frog-shaped tablet that Bonnie receives. “Toy meets tech” is the tagline, with Pixar wading into cultural commentary on iPad kids. It’s also been announced that none other than Greta Lee is voicing the electronic new character.

I’m intrigued by the direction this is going, even more so because Pixar great Andrew Stanton (Finding Nemo, WALL•E) is directing it. In addition to showing Buzz and Jessie, this teaser also reveals to us that Woody is back with the gang. I’m curious to see how they build off the developments of Toy Story 4, a film that divided fans but I still maintain is a stellar follow up to the untouchable original trilogy.

I guess we’ll see when Toy Story 5 opens in theatres on June 19th, 2025. It’s bound to be one of the biggest hits of next summer.
