New releases for the week of April 17th, 2026.

Theatrical Releases:
Lorne (Limited Release): This latest celebrity documentary from filmmaker Morgan Neville (Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, 20 Feet from Stardom) is a portrait of Lorne Michaels, the elusive creator of Saturday Night Live. I really enjoyed this one. It works as both a biography of Michaels and a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at SNL, with the variety of comic subjects involved making it quite entertaining to watch. Mile End Kicks (Limited Release): Canadian film critic turned filmmaker Chandler Levack follows up her feature debut I Like Movies with this portrait of a young music critic (played by Barbie Ferreira) in Toronto circa 2011, who decides to spend the summer in Montreal where she falls in with an indie rock band. Ferreira does wonderful work in the leading role, and Levack’s film works as a very enjoyable homegrown coming-of-age story. (Full Review)
