Blu-ray Review: Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die

By John Corrado

Director Gore Verbinski’s sci-fi time travel action comedy Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is one of the better movies of the year so far, and it’s now being given a physical media release this week.

Sam Rockwell stars in the film as a man claiming to be from the future, who bursts into a diner to recruit a group of people for a special mission to stop the AI apocalypse. The cast is rounded out by Haley Lu Richardson, Juno Temple, Michael Peña, Zazie Beetz and Asim Chaudhry.

Verbinski’s film has a lot going on, but it’s kept entertaining thanks to a manic Rockwell and the rest of the ensemble cast. As I wrote in my original review (which you can read right here), this is “an audacious mix of sci-fi, social satire, action movie and character drama, that finds the filmmaker back in scrappy, imaginative mode.” It’s worth picking up.

Film Rating:  (out of 4)

Bonus Features (4K Ultra HD):

The Blu-ray only includes one short bonus feature. The package ships with a standard slipcover.

The Making of Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die (5 minutes, 7 seconds): This brief but enjoyable featurette finds the cast members talking about their characters and working with director Gore Verbinski to craft this “psychotic opera.”

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is a Universal Pictures Home Entertainment release. It’s 135 minutes and rated 14A.
