Blu-ray Release: Up in 3D
Along with Finding Nemo, Disney Home Entertainment is rereleasing the previously available Blu-ray combo pack of Pixar’s 2009 masterpiece Up, now including a copy of the film in 3D. The story of an elderly man named Carl Fredricksen (Edward Asner) who floats his house away to South America only to find that wilderness explorer Russell (Jordan Nagai) has stowed away on his porch, this is an entertaining and deeply moving film about letting go of your past and creating new memories.
From the beautiful opening montage right through to the bittersweet final few scenes, Up was one of the very best films of 2009. The tenth feature from the geniuses at Pixar and the first one to be released theatrically in 3D, this is a timeless masterpiece that looks spectacular in the third dimension and would make a great gift for those who have upgraded to a 3D TV.
The Blu-ray includes picture-in-picture commentary with Pete Doctor and co-director Bob Peterson, numerous “behind the scenes” featurettes on different aspects of the production, along with the charming short films Partly Cloudy and Dug’s Special Mission.
Up is 96 minutes and rated PG.
