Today, Walt Disney Home Entertainment is releasing Tim Burton’s deeply personal film Frankenweenie on Blu-ray & DVD.  With stunning black and white stop motion animation, memorable characters and a heartfelt story that is in love with the world of filmmaking, this is a darkly beautiful film that deserves multiple viewings.  We highly recommended Frankenweenie when we reviewed the film in theatres back on October 5th, and our overall consensus was:

“Beautifully brought to life through black and white stop motion animation, Tim Burton’s deeply personal Frankenweenie pays homage to classic filmmaking, with memorable characters and a heartfelt story.  **** (Out of 4)”

The Blu-ray includes an in-depth featurette about the animation, a short look at The Art of Frankenweenie Exhibit, and a music video by The Plain White T’s.  Also included is Tim Burton’s live action Frankenweenie short film from 1984 as well as a brand new animated short titled Captain Sparky vs. The Flying Saucers.  The whole set comes highly recommended.

Frankenweenie is 87 minutes and rated PG.
