Blu-ray Release: Mickey’s Christmas Carol and A Very Merry Pooh Year

November 5, 2013

Mickey's Christmas Carol Blu-ray CoverDisney Home Entertainment is releasing Mickey’s Christmas Carol: 30th Anniversary Edition and Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year for the first time on Blu-ray today, two childhood favourites that come just in time for the holiday season.

Mickey’s Christmas Carol:  First up is the Oscar-nominated Mickey’s Christmas Carol, which was originally released in 1983 and has subsequently become an annual classic.  Starring beloved Disney characters in the iconic roles, this is a heartwarming adaptation of the Charles Dickens masterpiece, that makes full use of the 26 minute running time.  This brilliant short film holds up beautifully after all these years, and the Blu-ray is highly recommended.

The Blu-ray also includes the four classic shorts The Hockey Champ (1939), The Art of Skiing (1941), Corn Chips (1951) and Pluto’s Christmas Tree (1952), along with the brand new Yodelberg.

Mickey’s Christmas Carol is 26 minutes and rated G.

A Very Merry Pooh Year Blu-ray CoverWinnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Pooh Year:  A combination of the delightful 1991 TV special Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too! spliced together with the 2002 production Happy Pooh Year, this is a charming holiday feature that offers sweet messages for kids and a fine opportunity to spend time with these loveable characters.  The Gift of Friendship Edition on Blu-ray would be a nice addition to any seasonal collection.

The Blu-ray includes an option to just watch the songs, as well as a playable screensaver.  Also in the package is a cute Letters to Santa kit that has postcards, stickers and a flat pen.

A Very Merry Pooh Year is 64 minutes and rated G.
