The Wonderful “Saving Mr. Banks” is Now Playing in Wide Release
By John Corrado
This is just a quick note to remind everyone that, after a successful run in limited release starting last Friday, Saving Mr. Banks has expanded to all major theatres this weekend and is now playing in wide release, just in time for Christmas.
We made no secret of our love for Saving Mr. Banks when we published our rave reviews last week, all awarding the film our highest rating. With brilliant performances from Tom Hanks as the iconic Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as reluctant Mary Poppins author P.L. Travers, this is one of the most entertaining and moving films of the year, and a beautifully written tribute to two great artists and the personal elements that they both brought to the same work.
The last few months have offered an abundance of cinematic riches, and there are numerous great movies in theatres at the moment. We will be catching up with all of the other big awards season contenders over the next little while, including American Hustle, Her and Inside Llewyn Davis which all opened this week, as well as August: Osage County and The Wolf of Wall Street which both open on December 25th.
As you can see, my annual top ten list has gotten quite competitive over the last little while, but Saving Mr. Banks is already guaranteed a spot. This is a beautiful, entertaining and moving film, that is a must see during the holidays and absolutely deserves to reach the widest audience possible.
