Blu-ray Release: Frozen

March 18, 2014

Frozen Blu-ray CoverToday, Disney is releasing their blockbuster hit Frozen on Blu-ray & DVD.  The optimistic Anna (Kristen Bell) and her sister Elsa (Idina Menzel) grew up separated, with Elsa fearing the powers she has to create ice.  But when their kingdom is cast into eternal winter, Elsa hides away on a mountain and Anna sets off to find her, where she meets the adventurous Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven, along with the adorable snowman Olaf (Josh Gad) who dreams of experiencing summer.

Winning Oscars for Best Animated Film and Best Original Song for the stunning “Let It Go,” Frozen is a joyous triumph that fans will want to add to their collections.  The film also has a lot of heart, and the messages of fear holding us back and love being the warmest emotion are deeply felt, leading up to a finale that is both exciting and uplifting.  With beautiful animation, great characters and terrific songs, Frozen is another instant classic from Disney, and you can read my full thoughts on the film right here.

The Blu-ray includes deleted scenes, two brief “making of” featurettes and music videos of “Let It Go” in four different languages, with the English one featuring Demi Lovato.  Also on the disc is the hilarious and Oscar-nominated short film Get a Horse!

Frozen is 102 minutes and rated G.
