Blu-ray Review: Audrey Hepburn 7-Movie Collection

October 25, 2021

By John Corrado

On October 5th, Paramount released the Audrey Hepburn 7-Movie Collection for the first time on Blu-ray. It’s timed to coincide with the 60th anniversary of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, director Blake Edwards’ 1961 adaptation of the Truman Capote novella, which features Hepburn in the iconic role of Holly Golightly.

In addition to Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the set also includes Hepburn’s breakout film Roman Holiday, which won her the Oscar for Best Actress; the romantic comedy Sabrina; the Tolstoy adaptation War and Peace; the Paris-set fashion musical Funny Face (co-starring Fred Astaire); the meta screenwriting comedy Paris When It Sizzles; and the Oscar-winning musical My Fair Lady.

If this set looks and sounds familiar, that’s because it was first released on DVD in 2019, including the same selection of films and cover art. This is basically the same as the DVD collection (sans the pink slipcover), except upgraded to Blu-ray and with the addition of bonus features on five of the films. Like with the 2019 release (reviewed here), this set comes highly recommended. If you are a fan of Hepburn, like I am, it’s an economical way to add some of her most famous films to your collection.

Hepburn is one of the biggest film and fashion icons of the last century, and with Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Roman Holiday (a personal favourite of mine), and My Fair Lady (which also received a standalone 4K Ultra HD release earlier this year), this set gives you some of the most beloved films in the Paramount vault as well.

Bonus Features (Blu-ray):

The 8-disc set includes a selection of legacy bonus features on all but two of the films (Paris When It Sizzles and War and Peace), and a second disc to accompany My Fair Lady. The bonuses on Roman Holiday are the same as on the 2020 standalone Blu-ray release (reviewed here). Codes for digital copies of all seven films are also included in the package, another nice upgrade from the DVD set.
