New releases for the week of August 7th, 2026.

 

Theatrical Releases:

Ice Cream Man (Wide Release): Eli Roth’s latest torture porn slasher flick is about a sinister Ice Cream Man (played by Ari Millen) who gives out frozen treats that turn kids into murderous zombies. As I wrote in my review, it’s just “really, really stupid” and not good on any level. Roth’s film basically only exists to push far past the boundaries of good taste. (Full Review)

One Night Only (Wide Release): This new rom-com from director Will Gluck stars Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro, and is built around the premise of the one night a year when it’s legal for unmarried people to have sex. I haven’t seen it yet and have so many questions. Reviews are mixed, but I’m still curious to check this one out to see if it answers any of them.
