New releases for the week of September 25th, 2026.

Theatrical Releases:

Primetime (Wide Release): Documentary filmmaker Lance Oppenheim makes his narrative debut with this stylish, disturbing thriller focusing on Chris Hansen (Robert Pattinson), the host of NBC’s To Catch a Predator. Pattinson is mesmerizing to watch, with former child actor Skyler Gisondo also delivering impressive supporting work. It’s challenging, uncomfortable viewing, showing the darkness behind a cutthroat media landscape that tries to turn true crime into entertainment. (Full Review)

Heart of the Beast (Wide Release): This latest film from director David Ayer (Fury, End of Watch) proves that sometimes all you need for a movie to succeed is a movie star and a dog. This film has it with Brad Pitt and his canine companion. Pitt stars as a Special Forces officer trying to survive in the Alaskan wilderness with his combat dog Odin. Ayer crafting a solid, back-to-basics wilderness survival thriller around them. (Full Review)

The Stunt Driver (Wide Release): Jay Baruchel shines as iconic Canadian stunt driver Ken Carter in this entertaining 1970s period piece from director Michael Dowse (Fubar, Goon), which focuses on Carter’s attempts to jump a rocket car over the St. Lawrence. I caught this one at TIFF, and found it to be a lot of fun and oddly poignant as well. (TIFF 2026 Review)

Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty! (Limited Release): Rinko Kikuchi stars as an amateur ballroom dancer in Japan, experiencing grief from the death of her husband (Alejandro Edda) while developing feelings for her new dance instructor (Alberto Guerra). It’s a film that juggles a lot of different tones and doesn’t always work, but Kikuchi is good and there are some fun dance numbers. (Full Review)
