DVD/Blu-ray Release: Prometheus
Last week, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment released the intriguing science fiction film Prometheus on Blu-ray & DVD. Directed by Ridley Scott as a prequel to the series that first launched his career with Alien back in 1979, the film follows a group of explorers who are investigating the origins of life, only to have their research lead to a shocking discovery as they become stranded on a distant planet.
Effectively mixing elements of science fiction and horror with an excellent all star cast that includes Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender, Prometheus is a haunting space opera that asks plenty of big questions and leaves the audience with a lot to talk about. The Blu-ray set makes a great companion to the Alien Anthology from two years ago, and fans of the series should add Prometheus to their collections.
The Blu-ray includes two commentary tracks with Ridley Scott alongside writers Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindlof, a featurette, deleted scenes as well as an alternate beginning and ending. The film was also released as a 3D Blu-ray, which includes an extensive “behind the scenes” documentary.
Prometheus is 124 minutes and rated 14A.
