DVD/Blu-ray Release: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Today, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is releasing the aptly titled Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter on Blu-ray & DVD. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov and adapted from a novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, the film depicts Abraham Lincoln’s (Benjamin Walker) days as a vampire hunter alongside his immortal mentor (Dominic Cooper), before and during his reign as the 16th President of the United States.
Filled with ridiculously over the top action sequences and often laughable dialogue, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a fairly entertaining genre trip that really shouldn’t be taken too seriously and delivers exactly what you would expect from the campy title. Those looking for an accurate history lesson are sure to be disappointed, but viewers who don’t take it too seriously should have some fun with the film around Halloween.
The Blu-ray includes commentary with Seth Grahame-Smith, numerous featurettes, a graphic novel and a music video for the Linkin Park song “Powerless.”
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is 105 minutes and rated 14A.
