DVD/Blu-ray Release: This is the End
Today, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is releasing the hit summer comedy This is the End on DVD & Blu-ray. After Seth Rogen drags his friend Jay Baruchel to a party at James Franco’s house, the ground is shook by an earthquake and all sorts of crazy things start to happen, with people being raptured and rampant destruction on a massive scale. This is the Apocalypse, and these celebrities are forced to deal with their differences and spend the end of days at James Franco’s artfully constructed house.
By the time we reach the strangely uplifting final scene of This is the End, I couldn’t help but have a smile on my face. This is an insanely self referential and highly recommended comedy, that provides a thoroughly entertaining and often very funny look at friendship and the end of days, with a cast of hilarious actors all finding inventive ways to play themselves. Please read my full and uncensored thoughts on This is the End right here.
The DVD includes a commentary track with directors Seth Rogen and Even Goldberg, as well as two featurettes, one about directing their friends and the other focused on the marketing.
This is the End is 107 minutes and rated 18A.
