New releases for the week of May 8th, 2026.

Theatrical Releases:
Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) (Wide Release): This solid concert film, co-directed by Billie Eilish and legendary filmmaker James Cameron, captures Eilish on her Hit Me Hard and Soft tour. It’s shot in 3D, which adds a deeper level of immersion to it. I like Eilish’s music, and this concert film provides a thrilling experience for the fans, while doubling as a visually dazzling and technically impressive 3D experience. (Full Review)
Omaha (Limited Release): John Magaro stars in this mix of road movie and family drama as a father during the 2008 housing crash, who goes on the road with his two kids (Molly Belle Wright and Wyatt Solis), driving towards Nebraska. I was quite struck by this one when I watched it the other night. It’s a small film with a massive emotional impact, showcasing Magaro at his naturalistic best. Opens at TIFF Lightbox in Toronto. (Full Review)
The Last One for the Road (Limited Release): This Italian road movie is getting a limited release in theatres after screening at TIFF last year. It follows two middle-aged vagabonds (Sergio Romano and Pierpaolo Capovilla) bouncing around their hometown of Veneto, with a timid architecture student (Filippo Scotti) tagging along. I found the film to have a real scrappy charm to it. (TIFF 2025 Review)
