Blu-ray Release: Scrooged

Today, Paramount is releasing Scrooged for the first time on Blu-ray.  This 1988 version of the beloved Charles Dickens masterpiece A Christmas Carol stars Bill Murray as a hopelessly selfish and cynical TV executive, who learns the true meaning of Christmas over the course of one fateful and sometimes annoying December 24th.

Directed by the legendary Richard Donner, this is an offbeat retelling of the often told story, that has attracted a strong fan base over the years.  Although it doesn’t rank among my personal favourite adaptations, Scrooged does allow Bill Murray to deliver an excellent performance, and also features a few genuinely nice moments.  The film plays regularly on TV during the holidays, but fans should check this one out on Blu-ray.

The Blu-ray includes no bonus features, but comes nicely packaged with a 3D cover.

Scrooged is 100 minutes and rated PG.
