Today, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is releasing Pixar’s Cars 2 on Blu-ray & DVD.  Although some considered this to be the animation studio’s first flop, this was one of the best movies of the summer and a welcome addition to their library of great films.  We reviewed Cars 2 when it opened in theatres on June 24th, all giving it our highest rating.  Our overall consensus was:

“With beautifully detailed animation and a thrilling musical score by Michael Giacchino, Pixar’s Cars 2 delivers smart humour, genuine heart and a sophisticated espionage story filled with breathtaking action sequences.  Arrive early and don’t miss the delightful Toy Story short film, Hawaiian Vacation.  **** (Out of 4)”

The Blu-ray includes commentary with director John Lasseter, as well as the short film Hawaiian Vacation and an amusingly charming Cars Toon titled Air Mater.

Cars 2 is 106 minutes and rated G.
