Blu-ray Release: Cinderella
Walt Disney Home Entertainment is releasing their 1950 classic Cinderella for the first time on Blu-ray today, as part of the ongoing Diamond Edition series. We all know the story of Cinderella, who gets help from her animal friends and a kind Fairy Godmother to make her dreams of attending the Royal Ball come true. This film is often seen as the definitive telling of the fairy tale, and the adorable little mice provide plenty of delightful moments.
I’ve seen Cinderella on DVD over the years, and can honestly say that it looks great on Blu-ray. From the sweeping backgrounds to the richly drawn characters, every frame has been vividly restored and the animation is just beautiful to watch in high definition. Filled with delightful musical numbers and a charmingly romantic story, Cinderella is a true Disney classic and the Diamond Edition comes highly recommended.
The Blu-ray includes a previously unseen alternate opening, as well as two featurettes, including one on the real woman who inspired the Fairy Godmother. Also included is the hilarious and brilliant short film Tangled Ever After.
Cinderella is 75 minutes and rated G.
