Blu-ray Release: The Armstrong Lie
Last week, Sony Pictures Classics released The Armstrong Lie on Blu-ray & DVD. The documentary charts the rise of champion cyclist Lance Armstrong and his victorious reign of the Tour de France from 1999 to 2005, before his admissions of doping led to him being stripped of his medals in 2012.
Director Alex Gibney followed Lance Armstrong for several years as the cyclist trained for his eighth Tour de France, before the story took this inevitable and drastically different turn. Premiering at TIFF last September, The Armstrong Lie is a thorough look at an athlete who captured the world’s attention, and the film is worth seeing for those interested in the fascinating ups and downs of the title subject’s career.
The Blu-ray includes commentary with Alex Gibney, deleted scenes and a Q&A from last year’s TIFF.
The Armstrong Lie is 123 minutes and rated 14A.
