Today, Paramount is releasing two classic sitcoms for the first time on Blu-ray, including The Honeymooners: Classic 39 Episodes and The Andy Griffith Show: Season 1.

The Honeymooners: Classic 39 Episodes: Running from 1955 to 1956, The Honeymooners follows bus driver Ralph Kramden (Jackie Gleeson) and his sewer worker friend Ed Norton (Art Carney) as they dream of ways to get rich, while their wives Alice (Audrey Meadows) and Trixie (Joyce Randolph) respond with patience and exasperation.

Filled with quotable dialogue and memorable characters, The Honeymooners was groundbreaking for its time, and helped pave the way for modern TV comedy.  Compiling all 39 original episodes, remastered in high definition, this is an invaluable collection for fans of the classic sitcom.

The Blu-ray comes packed with bonus material, including two anniversary specials and the entire 1966 revival episode The Adoption, which aired as part of Jackie Gleeson’s variety show American Scene Magazine.

The Honeymooners: Classic 39 Episodes runs over five discs and is rated G.

The Andy Griffith Show: Season 1: Sheriff Andy Taylor (Andy Griffith) is a widower in the small North Carolina town of Mayberry, working with his cousin Deputy Barney Fife (Don Knotts) and living at the home of his Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier), while raising his young son Opie (Ron Howard).

Running for eight seasons from 1960 to 1968, The Andy Griffith Show remains one of the most beloved sitcoms of all time, with a charming sense of humour and family messages that still hold up.  For both fans of the show and newcomers, this collection is highly recommended, with all 32 episodes from the first season.

The Blu-ray also includes a few home movies shot by Ron Howard’s parents, a Person to Person interview with Andy Griffith, as well as the episode from The Danny Thomas Show that served as the unofficial pilot and the 1986 TV movie Return to Mayberry.

The Andy Griffith Show: Season 1 runs over four discs and is also rated G.
