Disney has just released the first trailer (and poster) for Gatto, the next film from Pixar following the soon-to-be blockbuster Toy Story 5. This trailer, which is really more of a teaser and will surely play in front of all screenings of TS5, reveals the first footage from the film, which is directed by Enrico Casarosa, who previously made the underrated Luca for the studio.
This film is also set in Italy, and follows a cat in Venice who is connected to the feline mob. Mark Ruffalo voices black cat lead Nero, and Laurence Fishburne is cat mob boss Rocco. We get introduced to both of them in this trailer, which harkens back to old school Pixar teasers in how it plays more like an extended scene. It’s very cute and amusing, and gives us our first look at the more illustrative 2D-3D animation style, which is an artistic departure for Pixar. I’m really looking forward to seeing this one.
The film opens exclusively in theatres on March 5th, 2027.
