Blu-ray Release: Clue
Paramount Home Entertainment is releasing the 1985 cult classic Clue on Blu-ray today. Based on the classic board game, the film stars Tim Curry as a mysterious butler who invites a group of wealthy socialites with memorable names to a spend an evening at an old mansion. But there’s a thunderstorm outside and the bodies start piling up amidst the many rooms, leaving the characters to figure out who the killer is and which one of the six weapons was used.
Watching Clue is just as much fun as playing a couple of rounds of the awesome board game, and I mean that in the best possible way. With a strong supporting cast and a wonderfully witty script that provides plenty of darkly twisted laughs, this is a thoroughly entertaining comic mystery. Complete with three alternate endings that are each satisfying in their own way, Clue comes recommended on Blu-ray.
The Blu-ray includes the option of watching the three “surprise endings” on their own or in a row, as well as the original trailer for the film.
Clue is 96 minutes and rated PG.

Spoiler Alert: I believe that originally one of the possible alternate endings shot by Jonathan Lynne included one featuring Tim Curry’s character as the murderer, although the DVD release did not include it…did it make it onto this blu-ray version?

Spoiler Alert: Excellent question! The Blu-ray includes the three endings that were originally released in theatres, labeled as A, B and C. Ending C includes all of the characters playing a role in the crimes, including Tim Curry’s character.
However, according to IMDb, there was a fourth ending shot where his character is actually guilty and has poisoned all of the other guests so that there will be no witnesses to his crime. But this ending has never been released, because it was considered “too morbid.”
Hope this helps and thanks for commenting!
