Blu-ray Release: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
Today, Paramount is releasing the 2002 animated film Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron for the first time on Blu-ray. With narration by Matt Damon, the film tells the story of a wild horse who is captured by a colonel (James Cromwell) who tries to break him, before regaining his freedom alongside a young Lakota brave, Little Creek (Daniel Studi).
Although the actual plot is very simplistic, this is a unique film from DreamWorks that rides on the power of the visuals and music. The mix of hand drawn and computer animation is breathtaking and allows for several stunning set pieces, backed by a rousing soundtrack of original songs from Bryan Adams. Nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron looks great on Blu-ray.
The Blu-ray includes a commentary track, storyboards and several featurettes on both the animation and the music.
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron is 83 minutes and rated G.
