Blu-ray Release: Crocodile Dundee and Crocodile Dundee II Double Feature
Paramount is releasing the 1986 classic Crocodile Dundee for the first time on Blu-ray today, in a double pack with the 1988 followup Crocodile Dundee II.
The first one follows newspaper reporter Sue Charlton (Linda Kozlowski) who travels to Australia to meet eccentric local Mick “Crocodile” Dundee (Paul Hogan). But when he saves her life and she takes him back to New York to experience America for the first time, they start developing feelings for each other. The sequel catches up with them as they travel down under, with a gang of drug dealers in tow.
Although this followup doesn’t reach the same heights as the original, this Blu-ray set is worth picking up for the first film, which still holds up quite nicely. Becoming the second highest grossing movie of 1986 and Oscar-nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Crocodile Dundee has hilariously quotable dialogue and a charmingly romantic story, ending with a great New York moment.
The Blu-ray also includes the original trailers for both films, and a “behind the scenes” featurette on the second one.
Crocodile Dundee is 97 minutes and Crocodile Dundee II is 111 minutes, both rated PG.
